This is an interesting opening scene. Showing The Magic School Bus isn't the only bus in the series. Here are some normal North American school buses.
Here's something I find strange. Tim ripping a page out of his blank book when failing to come up with an essay for Earth Day.
Ms. Frizzle has gotten her own cocoa tree!
Carlos was right. The mail order was a fail order. 1 measly cocoa bean.
Typical Arnold Perlstein. He sure dislikes weird field trips.
Dorothy Ann's gotten her RFI licence. What is RFI you may ask? Rain Forest Investigation.
Funny that Carlos would ask some monkey about the Friz Cocoa Tree, only for them to throw oranges at him.
And this rainforest is home to a silky anteater, dining in his favourite restaur-ant.
Now it's up to Tim and Dorothy Ann to look for why Ms. Frizzle only got one cocoa bean in her fail order.
Luckily, it was Keesha who found the tree, with Ms. Frizzle's photo on it.
We are introduced to the ever-so-French Inspector 47.
Zese mud wallows has gone poof! As Eenspector 47 stated.
Tim and Dorothy Ann are doing their best to investigate. Why have these cocoa trees not grown any cocoa beans?
Now there are loads of cocoa beans in this tree, and there's mud everywhere!
This is what the trees need to pollinate their flowers. Midge flies.
Arnold fantasising about that chocolate really makes me hungry for some.
Look at this bromeliad! An iguana, a slug, a frog and some tadpoles in water. More life!

Look at Tim and Dorothy Ann go! Ride those stampeding peccaries!
This is why cocoa beans grow in cocoa trees. Peccaries need to wallow in mud to attract midge flies to produce more midge flies, and the midge flies need to pollinate the cocoa tree flowers.
Of course! Artificial turf has stopped cocoa beans from growing!
Now this is a rainforest web.

Here's a funny moment of the segment. The caller calling Inspector 22 a cartoon! Ironic since he is!
Interesting fact about Inspector 47, now known as Inspector 22, is that he's voiced by Matt Frewer, and boy is his French accent so genuine sounding!
Funny that Carlos should talk to some monkeys. I wonder if this is another link to that Captain Planet Magic School Bus conspiracy? What I mean is, people who made that conspiracy say Carlos grew up to be Ma-Ti, who has a monkey named Suchi. Ironically, this episode teaches kids about the ecology of rainforests, while Captain Planet is a series that teaches kids about how to make the Earth a perfect place.
And seeing a stampede of peccaries was pretty interesting to see. And the moment Dorothy Ann and Tim accidentally catch a ride on them was pretty.....fun, I guess.
While the way Inspector 22 turfed the rainforest floor was pretty ridiculous, all because he was tired of peccaries making the floor wet, this was still a very good way to teach kids about how the ecology of rainforests work. And it was interesting to hear Dorothy Ann narrate the entire episode from her own point of view. And the way she and Tim cracked the case was brilliant. Hmm....could go for that chocolate Arnold fantasised about, and that juice Wanda and Ralphie landed in. And funny that the caller called Inspector 22 a cartoon, considering he is one.

The class has decided to give the Friz a present for Earth Day--a cocoa bean tree in the Amazon, as cocoa beans are used to make chocolate. The day just happens to be the day the first shipment reaches them, but for some reason, the tree has produced no cocoa beans. They go to the rainforest to find the reason and Ms. Frizzle makes Tim and Dorothy Ann "RFIs," or RainForest Investigators. Ms. Frizzle's tree is in a patch of the rainforest controlled by Inspector 47, who talks with a strong accent and runs around the rainforest in a white suit. He is very proud that he got rid of the mud in his patch of the rainforest; however, the class finds out, at the end, that the absence of the mud was what caused the absence of cocoa beans. The mud holes were where the insects that pollinated the cocoa pods lived, and it is revealed that Inspector 47 had covered the rainforest floor with artificial turf! They explain this to him and he decides to "rip up this filthy artificial turf with my bare hands."
"Mail order?! Ha! I call it fail order!"
Good one, Carlos. What a mail order is if it takes too long to post.
"Congratulations, D.A.! Looks like this case is all wrapped up!"
"Carlos!"
"Carlos!"
