At the Walkerville carnival the kids are running the Ferris wheel; however, it is unworkable for some reason. Mikey, Carlos's little brother, who uses a wheelchair, comes to the rescue. Since electric power will not work, they decide to use the energy of falling rocks. If the people ride in the one side of the Ferris wheel and the rocks land on the other, then it will cause the wheel to turn without hurting anyone. The problem is how to get the rocks to the Ferris wheel.

Whoa! That shorted out quickly! Good thing Carlos was wearing rubber gloves when this happened.
Here he is. This is Carlos' younger disabled brother Mikey Ramon. And he sure seems stronger than he looks. He managed to ring the bell high enough to let that falling rock go!
I take it Dorothy Ann doesn't like to be reminded of the time she got a rash, especially since Mikey mentioned that moment.
This is a creative thing for the bus to do. Have a ramp for people in wheelchairs.
That's a creative idea for Mikey to come up with. Use wind power for a conveyor belt. Funny they should use Arnold's belt as a prototype for that.
Here's another creative idea. Water power and a catapult. Another clever idea from Mikey.
Isn't that funny. The Magic School Bus, as a ferry, and carrying a paddle wheel. Well, the bus isn't called "The Magic School Bus" for nothing.
Ralphie should've known better than to get onto the rock when trying to get the catapult to fling it, or else, it happened. He flew over the mountain with the rock.
This is clever acting from Carlos, doing his impression of Arnold Schwarzenegger, only to get pelted by tomatoes.
Here we go. Dorothy Ann got an idea! She figured out what to do about moving those rocks. Have a giant kettle steam with the heat from the sun and have a cannon shoot the rocks onto the Ferris Wheel.
More entertainment Carlos tried, being a country bumpkin playing a Banjo.
There we go. Mikey Power. Wind power, solar power, water power and rocks to keep the Ferris Wheel going!
Isn't that cute. A model of the main character with a spray can on its roof for energy!
We're finally introduced to Carlos' younger brother Mikey. He may be disabled, but he's very handy with gadgets. He is another disabled member of a family of any of the main class. While Phoebe's dad is blind, Carlos' brother is unable to walk. Maybe this is why we didn't see Carlos' mum in Going Batty? Because she was looking after Mikey while Mr. Ramon went on that field trip?
It was funny that Carlos was doing his impression of Arnold Schwarzenegger, especially when he said "I'll be back!", and when Mikey reminded Dorothy Ann about her rash, causing her to blush.
Another highlight was Dorothy Ann getting the idea. Further proving she's the smartest in the class.
One thing that's notable about this episode is that Arnold doesn't say that he "should've stayed home today" in this despite how perilous this field trip seemed.
While this episode was a very good way to teach kids about energy and how things are powered, I will admit that using rocks to power the Ferris Wheel was pretty dangerous. Believe me, if this were real life, someone might get crushed by those falling rocks. And it was funny that the Producer imagined a Mikey-powered dishwasher would result in all the plates, bowls, glasses and other dishes shattering to pieces. Good thing the Producer mentioned that problem.
"That's it! Man power!"
"Don't you mean person power, Ralphie?"
Funny Ralphie should mention man power since he was flexing his muscles without remembering Phoebe, Wanda, Keesha, Dorothy Ann and Ms. Frizzle.
"According to my research,at the rate we're going.....we should have enough rocks.....at the top of the mountain....by the time I'm 62!"
I guess they'll have enough rocks up there in 2048. I say 2048 because these kids are supposed to be 8 or 9 in this series, and this episode was produced in 1995.
