MSB S6E10: Tim and the Talking Trees

How do trees talk? Well, I'm going to take chances, make mistakes, find out! By seeing the class communicate with each other in this sort of way! Blog, do your stuff!

75. Tim and the Talking Trees.

Ralphie doesn't believe Tim when he tells him that trees can talk, so Ms. Frizzle takes the class to a forest that is louder than it looks.

We open with a story about baobab trees. Tree talking to each other. 

It is just Tim's story, but Ralphie thinks it is preposterous that trees talk. 

"Who told you that? A Pinecone?"

It is funny. Dorothy Ann thinks Ralphie's argument is funny.

Is Fiona psychic or something? She can actually picture what the class was saying! 

Cool. Seat vines, everyone! 

A stress mushroom. 

Come on! Ride on The Magic Tree Bus! 

First up, Ralphie and Wanda are talking to some little birds. 

The communicating button. 

A chipmunk thinks that Keesha and Arnold are predators. Not predators. Friends. 

And these cute little prairie dogs. 

They detected an orange hair woman. Fiona! 

 

A black bear looking for food. Why does this sound familiar? 

A bear attack! 

Nah. The bear just wants blueberries. 

Since the shrub filled with berries is telling it to eat them. 

"According to my reesearch, raspberry bushes need bears so that more bushes can grow. Animals eat the berries and spread the seeds when they go to the bathroom in the woods."

A locust has been eating these grasses, but the smell is warding them off. 

"Oh yeah! They talk! T-t-t-t-t-talk!"

Tim is right!

 As shown by the bee Ralphie and Tim were following, flowers tell them to pollenate them.

"Why does this remind me of the time we got rooted? All I wanna be is a nice quiet...."
"Mushroom?!"
"Arnold, I always knew you were a fungi."
"Carlos!"

Good one, Carlos! 

You might be wondering what kind of tree Dorothy Ann is. I don't know, but thanks for aspen.

"Come back and be a tree! I love my job."

Ralphie has trouble hearing Tim, making him think he's right about trees. 

But there are aphids eating Ralphie! 

Yep. Fiona herself is an oak tree. 

Yep. Ralphie can send out a scent, calling for help. 

Only Wanda and Keesha took notice of it. 

Tim's roots are being tickled. By Arnold's mycelium.

This is how trees talk! Through their roots. 

After the class communicating, Ralphie's oak-kay. 

"Um, Ralphie. I know you're a tree and everything, but do you have to be so sappy?"
"Carlos!"

Tim is telling a true story about trees now. He's right. 

Arnold doesn't think it's funny. I guess he should've stayed home today. 

Another winner for the Frizzle Science class. 

And now Valerie and Goldie are using their Magic Scooter Bike to plant. 

It stinks, so it's foreshadowing the next episode.


Who would've thought we'd see a black bear in this episode? Reminds me of In a Beehive when a black bear took the honey from a wild beehive.

Carlos sure has a lot of puns here. Ralphie being sappy, and Arnold being a fungi.

It's interesting that trees and animals can talk. Well, they may not talk like we do, but they talk via their own sounds or roots.

Well, this was quite interesting. Learning about how various animals and plants talk to each other, especially by their own sort of communications. Who would've thought that Ralphie and Tim would get into an argument? And Dorothy Ann's research, as well as Valerie Frizzle at the end are foreshadowing the next episode. What is it? Find out.
