A little math helps Ralphie make complicated midair calculations when his cousins recruit him to join their high-flying circus act.
Ms. Frizzle is on the phone, in the news of an emergency!
I too wonder if that phone was always beside the door of the classroom.
It's funny that Dorothy Ann shushed the rest of the class. They thought she shushed them because Fiona was on the phone, but she shushed them because she was studying. For a Math test.
Ooh, this sounds pretty familiar. Ralphie and Dorothy Ann in an argument.
It turns out the math test has been put on hold, much to Dorothy Ann's dismay and Ralphie's delight.
Coincidence? I think not.
Liz thinks it's funny. Fiona used to perform in the circus.
It's alright, Dorothy Ann. You can count how many times Ralphie says "Woohoo!"
It is the circus! In Budapest!
And these are Ralphie's cousins. They used to call Ralphie "Wee Widdle Winkerpooper". Much to Ralphie's embarrassment.
Frizzle 1, Wee Widdle Winkerpooper, 0.
The trouble is, he has to measure the rope, and how long it needs to be.
He didn't do it right. They're too long.
Ralphie will have to replace his cousin.
And Jyoti will have to replace Ralphie's other cousin.
Jyoti can't see Ralphie's thumbs up because she's blindfolded.
How does Ms. Frizzle do that? Freeze Jyoti like that? Bus-O-Matic pause feature.
Say hello to a little math expert, Matthew Math Matthews.
Seriously?
There's so much math! It's everything! Size!
Ralphie can say this is amazing, 2.0 more times.
And this confirms that Ralphie is 137 cm, by measuring Jyoti's distance.
Jyoti doesn't look happy.
Ralphie wanted to practice with Carlos, but he missed.
Ralphie tried again with Carlos, and he succeeded.
And he succeeded in catching Jyoti.
Plot twist!
Time for the real act! Jyoti's going to blindfold herself.
Time to freeze the crowd. For Ralphie to announce how proud he is to have learned about math.
And he caught Jyoti's hands.
Ralphie wanted to measure Liz's water by giving her some more.
And he got a poster with him! His name written as "Wee Widdle Winkerpooper".
Goldie sure loves those bananas.
Now, Goldie heard trees talk. That's for next time.
Who would've thought Ralphie couldn't like Math? Well, many people don't like learning about math.
That short-lived argument between Ralphie and Dorothy Ann at the beginning, all because Ralphie disliked Math, was pretty interesting. Reminds me of their argument throughout Plays Ball.
Who would've thought Ralphie has relatives who perform in the circus?
I'm going to guess that this episode, being about maths, might, to an extent, remind some of Cyberchase, a show that teaches kids about math problems.
Now I'm scratching my head here. Did Keesha's mothers, Wanda's mum, and Dorothy Ann's parents get to Hungary to see the circus?
But still, this was a very interesting way to learn about math problems, and how to measure things. And Ralphie learning math was pretty interesting to watch. But I personally think it should've been Keesha he should've been trying to catch as a trapeze artist. Look, I'm one of the many Ralphie/Keesha shippers, so I guess I'm a bit biased here. But oh well. You can't have it all. But it was still interesting to see Ralphie do trapeze with Jyoti.
