61. Space Mission: Selfie.

An out-of-this world class field trip takes the students up into space, where a selfie-obsessed Keesha accidentally sparks disaster and major collisions.

We are in outer space, and Keesha is with Kathy K. Kuiper. She is going to be in astronaut camp....

Or so we thought. Keesha's actually distracted from being a goalie.

Luckily, she's explaining to the rest of the class, but they were lucky enough to win the game.

Keesha wants a selfie, so Jyoti's helping her look for the appropriate star for her.

To the bus! Fiona Frizzle's going to be taking the class to space again!

 

I have to say, when The Magic School Bus turned into a spaceship here, it looked the way it did in Sees Stars. 

The kids are really floating without gravity, but Arnold doesn't want to.

Here comes a broken satellite. The class didn't notice since they were distracted.

And then another satellite hit The Magic School Bus.

"What is space junk anyway?"

"According to my reesearch, it's mechanical debris in space that's left over from old satellites and rockets."

So that explains what space junk is. 

 Here are some satellites surrounding Earth.

This is a Friz satellite.

Luckily, Fiona is explaining how satellites go around the world and send signals.

I guess everyone's going to fix that satellite.... except Keesha, who's just willing to get a picture of herself in space.

But she just can't seem to get the picture on her own.

And she pressed the wrong button on her space pod! She's wrecking all the satellites!

Safety pillow keeps hitting Keesha. Very much like airbags in vehicles.

Luckily, not all of them. Just the Friz satellites.

Some assembly required for these Friz satellites.

That's it! The class can be satellites themselves!

Ralphie's enjoying the music he's listening to, especially since it's the music he and the rest of the class were dancing to in The Magnetic Mambo.

Now Keesha's got the soccer game!

Here's one trouble with being an astronaut. You'll want to scratch yourself wherever you have an itch, like Ralphie scratching his nose.

They got to meet Kathy K. Kuiper after all. Space soccer it is!

Professor Frizzle, Goldie, and The Magic Scooter Bike are in the glacier, foreshadowing the next episode.


Well, who would've thought that Keesha would be excited to go to astronaut camp?

This episode also confirms that Keesha's grandmother is related to her paternally, since Kathy mentioned that Keesha's surname is Franklin.

That voiceover at the beginning sounds familiar. I'm guessing that's Stuart Stone, Ralphie's original voice actor, since the voice sounds a lot like the voice Ralphie had in a few parts of Season 2, and throughout Seasons 3 and 4.

Well, this was quite an interesting way to learn about satellites, and how they send signals, but Keesha was a bit clumsy in her space pod, breaking those Friz satellites accidentally. Yet I find it a bit odd that Arnold wouldn't like floating zero gravity, yet in Gains Weight, he didn't mind floating zero gravity, wishing Janet could see that. But even so, at the end, Keesha did meet Kathy, and the whole class got the photo. Better than any selfie, huh?

My rating: 8.5/10.
