MSB S5E08: Three in One

Why am I reviewing this new Magic School Bus series? Well, does it really matter? Well, this review will explain why it matters. Besides, everything is made up of matter! Blog, do your stuff!

60. Three in One.

A lesson on water and its three basic forms -- solid, liquid and gas -- inspires Jyoti's submission for a "3-in-1 Gizmo That Goes" contest.

Meet Jyoti's robot, Naniben. Is she a cutie or what? 

"Liz, Naniben. Naniben, Liz."

Naniben means "Little Sister" in Gujarati. 

And now, it's time for the 3 in 1 competition. What may the Frizzle science class have?

I like how Naniben has thinking tea for Jyoti. 

Bus being like a dog, jumping up and down. 

Maybe a teapot kart? 

Or a teapot rocket? 

This subject is.... State of matter day! 

"What's matter?"

"And why does it matter?"

Well, here is why matter matters. Matter is what makes up everything, like this ice. 

"Very cool! He he. Literally!"

Since ice is cold, it really is cool. 

Here's some continuity. Remembering Ralphie's whistle field trip. 

Even the solid molecules in Arnold's Rocky McRockerton move. But never fast. 

There's so many molecules in matter, depending on the matter, it won't move if it's solid. 

Water turns into all 3 different kinds of matter, as Dorothy Ann showed on her Friz tab. 

Liz didn't realise until too late the ice is too cold for her tongue, so it got stuck. 

"Is it just me, or is this molecule beginning to move a little more?"

A quote from the past! 

"Now this is a waterpark! 

It sure is, Carlos. 

Liz doesn't look happy with Naniben for melting the ice. 

Funny that Arnold strapped himself with heaps of seatbelts, so he wouldn't move again.

"According to my reesearch, the molecules in a gas speed up and bounce around all available space."

That's right. That explains gas going around everywhere. 

This red dot pinpoints Ralphie's exact whereabouts. 

The only way to save Ralphie was to turn him into a snowflake. 

The idea has finally been decided. A bumper molecule, representing matter.

Solid.

Liquid.

Gas.

"Let's go again!"
"Water we waiting for?"
"Carlos!"

Typical Carlos, always making puns. 

Showing Valerie and Goldie in a satellite. Valerie's explaining all the different states of matter, and foreshadowing the next episode.


Well, who would've thought Ralphie would use his catchphrase in this series? Especially considering just about every episode of this series Dorothy Ann uses her catchphrase, only saying "Ree-search" instead of "Riss-search", Carlos always making puns, and Arnold saying he "should've stayed home today". This gives me more reasons to call this series "Season 5 onward" instead of "Rides Again".

There is a tiny bit of inaccuracy. Naniben doesn't exactly mean "Little Sister" in Gujarati. Little Sister is actually Liṭala bahēna. But then again, it does prove that Jyoti is of Gujarati descent. At least I think she is, since she's Hindi-American.

Well, this was still a good way to learn about matter, and how it moves. It stalls when it's solid, it moves when it's liquid, and it moves even faster when it's gas. Ralphie sure seemed to have a lot of fun, considering his wild imagination. Now, what's next? Find out next time.
