Ralphie decides to call himself Weatherman, but this angers Keesha who claims he is not. She tells him the heat is getting to him, which makes Ralphie angry; so he decides to prove his worth by creating a thunderstorm. After he creates it, things go out of control.
I take it Liz doesn't want to share her tub with anyone. That or she just wants to be alone in her tub so that the rest of the class don't get in.
Say hello to Weatherman! Shika-shika-Ka-boom! Really, just Ralphie dressed like his alter-ego.
Amazing that Dorothy Ann can do research in an updraft, while she has floppy pigtails and she and the rest of the class have floppy bodies.
Man, Keesha sure doesn't like how Ralphie keeps expecting everyone to take him seriously. Especially when he asked Tim "Who's this Ralphie you're talking about?"
See Ralphie blushing after Keesha telling him about the thunderstorm? I take it Ralphie has a crush on her?
This is ridiculous, Carlos. He can only feel through Arnold because now, they're made out of water.
Here we go. The first piece of proof that Wanda hates the cold. Except she doesn't admit it here....well, except while shivering.
This episode overall was a very interesting way to learn about the weather cycle. All thanks to Carlos, Dorothy Ann and Keesha explaining it all. Carlos said rain, Dorothy Ann said air, and Keesha said heat. They were all correct. Water, air and heat make weather. Water makes rain or snow depending on the temperature, air makes wind, and heat comes from the sun. This was a very good way to learn about the weather, and also that we can never predict the weather. Oh, and to wrap up this review, Shika-Shika-Ka-boom!
Yes, Keesha. The weather can be too hot. And even thermometers can sweat, especially when it's too hot.
"At my old school, we measured in metric."
I take it Phoebe's Old School doesn't measure in imperial, unlike most North American schools do. And she's right. 99 degrees Fahrenheit is 37 degrees Celsius.
"Where does she get her clothes?"
Proves that Ms. Frizzle doesn't wear the same outfit in more than one episode. And where she gets her clothes, we'll never know.
Ralphie and his wild imagination. Making up his superhero Weatherman! Shika-shika Ka-boom!
"Weatherman?! Ralphie, you've been reading too many superhero comic books."
Superhero comic books are what Ralphie give him his wild imagination about Weatherman.
Welp. Keesha doesn't like that Ralphie got to Tim, encouraging him to write a comic book about the made-up superhero.
"Tim. If Ralphie's Weatherman, then I'm the Queen of England."
"Your majesty."
It was funny how Weatherman took Keesha so seriously unaware of her sarcasm.
Hot air coming from Weatherman's mouth? Funny how he took Keesha's word so seriously.
"We're blown away by the experience, right?"
Oh, Carlos. You and your puns. Especially since they really were blown away by the experience.
"Oh, Keesha! Stop being such a 'drip'!"
Funny since Carlos was a drip too, as are the rest of the class. They literally are drips, since they were snowflakes which turned into rain.
"Shika-Shika-Ka-boom!"
Finally. Keesha has confidence in Ralphie to be Weatherman! That's the spirit, girl!
"Weatherwoman! Shika-shika-ka-boom!"
Oh Keesha. Now you're taking inspiration from Weatherman!
Yep. The male Producer mistakenly said he was the only producer. He should've said "One of the producers" whenever the female producer's present.
Weatherlizard? Well, there's no such thing as Weatherlizard either.
Lucky the Producer Segments exist in this series. One thing that was missing was that some ice in clouds rain as hail. That's what was missing, and earlier, it was stated that it seldom rains in deserts.
For anyone who was wondering "What was with Keesha's normal outfit throughout this series?" considering her over-sized jumper. In this episode, she was wearing a short sleeved shirt the same colour as her jumper, and didn't wear that jumper due to the heat, and underneath, she's wearing a skirt. So Keesha would always wear that skirt underneath that jumper she'd usually wear.
Interesting enough, Carlos wasn't wearing his blue hoodie due to the weather, but rather a blue shirt with yellow stripes on the sleeves and a yellow collar, and Dorothy Ann wasn't wearing her violet skivvy, but rather a violet T-shirt with a pale blue stripe and pale blue collar I guess she would wear underneath. Arnold and Tim rolled up their sleeves and Wanda wasn't wearing her vest. Ralphie wore his normal outfit in this until he became Weatherman, while Phoebe was the only one who wore her normal outfit in this, and she didn't even roll up her sleeves.
Also, this episode is first proof that Wanda dislikes the cold.
Keesha arguing with Ralphie about him being Weatherman proves she's a good foil to Ralphie, just like how Dorothy Ann is a foil to Carlos and Wanda's a foil to Arnold.
And also, notice that Ralphie blushed upon hearing Keesha sarcastically waiting for the thunderstorm. I take it he has a crush on her. I also take this as a reason most people who grew up with this series ship Ralphie with Keesha. And to be precise, I'm one of the many Ralphie/Keesha shippers.

This season was a very good way to start a series with a goal of teaching children about science, even if there were a few inaccuracies here and there. The introduction of interesting diverse characters, some guest stars, a producer voiced by Malcolm-Jamal Warner of The Cosby Show fame, and Lily Tomlin voicing Ms. Frizzle. Plus, that epic theme song sung by the one and only Little Richard. Also, what's interesting is that the child characters were voiced by Canadians. This explains their fake American accents slipping to Canadian accents every now and again. Easy to tell this is a part-Canadian series since it was animated by Nelvana, a Canadian animation company.
But overall, this season is good and it teaches very interesting topics. Join me for Series 2 next time.
