TTTE S3E26: Thomas and Percy's Christmas Adventure.

Today, I am going to do my first review ever. First thing's first:

78. Thomas and Percy's Christmas Adventure (UK)/Thomas and Percy's Mountain Adventure (US)

Thomas is looking forward to delivering mail to the people of the mountain village, but when Sodor is struck by a snowstorm, the mountain village is snowed under. Thomas is summoned to help and Percy takes the mail for him.


On the way there, however, a fogman stops him and sends him to get help. Percy tells Harold as Thomas arrives with Terence and asks Percy to tag along to help with the rescue. Harold drops hot drinks and food for the villagers and Terence clears the streets.


As a token of gratitude for their hard work, the villagers make a surprise. When the engines wake up, they see the shed decorated with new paint and Christmas decorations and agree it is the best Christmas ever.




Alright, 3 things:


1. Why was this episode redubbed in the US to celebrate Thanksgiving?


2. Why were the Christmas decorations left in place?


3. Sodor is not an American place. It's a fictional island set off the west coast of England.




Now, onto the UK dub:


This was a nice story and it shows what Christmas is all about. Thomas and Percy earn good karma. They, along with Terence, rescued the villagers, and the villagers at the end, repainted the shed and decorated it in return, even leaving presents under a Christmas tree! With the help of Toby and Henrietta, that is.


I prefer the UK dub by a long shot. It did right what the US dub didn't. Britt should have left this episode out for another Shining Time Station Christmas special. It's such a shame America missed out on a great Christmas episode!

My rating: UK dub: 8.5/10. US dub: 4/10.

(The episode's real rating is 8.5/10 because I generally go for the UK dubs.)
