67. Claw and Order.

From scratch marks to stolen pepperoni slices, the science classroom's a mess -- and all clues point to Wanda's magpie friend, Marty the Magpie.

It's funny that Ralphie thought Wanda was giving him sweet talk, when she was actually referring to her magpie friend Marty. 

A crime scene! 

The plastic diver is missing! 

All the pepperoni on the pizza has been picked off.

Miss Frizzle believes this is The Case of the Chaotic Classroom.

Jyoti will be taking pictures, while Carlos and Keesha investigate.

Some nuts have been cracked.

 

"Hmm.. There's something fishy about this case. Get it? Fishy? Because, aquarium?"

Good one, Carlos. Reminds me of the fishy pun he made in Ups and Downs. 

Another clue. A feather. 

They've got the book on birds! 

 Keesha and Carlos will be talking to the DA.

Who is of course, Dorothy Ann. 

So this is Marty's nest. 

Come on! Ride on The Magic Bird Bus! 

"According to my reesearch, birds' feet and beaks are adapted to match with what they do and where they live."

That's true, Dorothy Ann. 

It couldn't have been a sea eagle. Their feet adapt like people wearing shoes. 

 

Well, ducks do have flat round beaks to feed on aquatic animals, as demonstrated in Gets Swamped. 

The whistle, the scuba diver, and the whistle! 

All kinds of birds have different kinds of feet. 

And different kinds of beaks. 

Wasn't a hummingbird  because their feet are too small.

Wasn't a woodpecker because they have cross-like talons. 

 

A bald eagle! Now where have we seen that before? 

It wasn't a pelican.

 It wasn't a crane.

It wasn't a penguin.

It definitely wasn't an ostrich.

Come on! Ride on The Magic Court Bus! 

Birds are in the jury. 

 

 Liz being a judge here reminds me of the time she was a judge in In a Pickle. 

 

 "Oh no!"
"Oh yes!"

Reminds me of the time Dorothy Ann said that in Shows and Tells. 

A spy camera for the skeleton.

So the cardinal was eating the nuts.

And the duck was splashing in the tank.

But Marty still ate pizza.

Goldie can't seem to eat any corn.


Who would've thought Wanda would befriend a magpie like that? Further proving she's acting like Phoebe would act.

Funny how this episode is a complete reference to Law and Order. Funny thing is, there's a Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi episode with that name. If you want to see my review on that episode, I did it a few years ago, Go here.

I'm telling you, this episode did feel like a remake of In a Pickle, Ups and Downs, and Taking Flight. Only the culprit in this crime were 2 birds.

It was still a good way to teach kids about birds this episode, though I think they should've mentioned that the soles of a bird's feet are called talons. And this episode also kind of felt like Hides and Seeks but with a crime. Only because it had the same music playing. But I felt Wanda was a bit too protective of Marty, but for obvious reasons. And I felt that Carlos and Keesha were a bit hard on Marty. I mean he's just a bird.

MSB S6E01: The Land Before Tim

A little more than half a year after The Magic School Bus Rides Again debuted, its 2nd season debuted on Netflix. How does this season turn out compared to the previous season? Let's take chances, make mistakes, go back in time again! Discovering fossils! Blog, do your stuff!

66. The Land Before Tim.

When the class gets an invite to compete on Tim's favourite TV game show, The Magic School Bus takes them all back in time to bone up on how fossils are formed.

Here's a trick to see how talented Tim is. Balancing while blindfolded. 

Watch him try turning this rubix cube-like oblong.

 Dorothy Ann announces that the class will be on Celebrity Super Stumpers, hosted by Nicki Ray.

Tim just couldn't help but to act all dreamy about Nicki.

And there's even magazines of her. She's that hot, huh?

So Keesha thinks Tim will do his "Tim Statue" bit on TV?

"What if I don't?"
"You will!"

 Today's theme will be fossils.

 Tim seems to be having trouble. But he doesn't know about fossils? Hmm....

2017 AD? I guess this series takes place in the present. What? Do these kids take a decade to age?

This is Pangaea, or as Ms. Frizzle likes to call it, The Land Before Tim.

 "Where's North America? Africa? Australia?"

The big question is, where's New Zealand on that map? 

Dorothy Ann find it scary that she's a quadruped Dinogorgon. But Jyoti isn't scared?

But Ralphie, Wanda, Keesha and Arnold are adorb Omanytes.

Carlos is a sea monster, otherwise known as a Cymbospondylus.

Tim, Dorothy Ann and Jyoti are about to get covered in sediments.

"I'm just glad the petrification got my good side."

"Carlos!"

Good one, Carlos! 

And look. Tim's footprint!

It's an Earthshake! Tim's getting separated from Dorothy Ann and Jyoti!

As you can see, the Earth is moving apart, like it does every day.

"I knew I should've stayed home todaaaaaaay!"

This quote further raises my headscratcher about this series. 

At least Dorothy Ann is back to normal.

And the bus is under the sea to look for Keesha, Arnold, Wanda, and Ralphie.

This magma has made new land. Reminds me of Blows its Top. 

Ralphie almost fell.

Wanda almost got burned alive!

Where Jyoti is, there's mountains formed!

And Carlos is in Nevada with his fossil.

Tim's finally meeting Nicki Ray. Such a beautiful show host.

Tim just couldn't speak properly. Such a beautiful hostess.

Tim and Nicki can't help but to greet each other backward. 

 Tim's doomed! Because the game is about maps rather than fossils!

Game is on!

And the champs are ready to compete against the Walkerville Wunderkinds.

It's tricky. It's like a puzzle. A jigsaw puzzle.

The champions thought it was the world now, but they're wrong.

Tim got it!

Fiona can't help but to cheer her class on.

The Walkerville Wunderkinds got it right! Pangaea!

The opponents even applauded. Good sportsmanship.

They got the picture!

Tim can juggle a lot!

Ralphie played quite a clever trick on Tim, making him think Nicki Ray was at Walker Elementary School.

Even though Tim broke the trophy, they can still put it back together.

Valeria and Goldie have a new home. A bird's nest.

Food on a puzzle.

But Marty the Magpie is back, foreshadowing the next episode.


Who would've thought Tim would fawn over Nicki in this episode? He must really love her that much.

I like the pun this episode made. It's a pun on the 1988 animated movie, The Land Before Time. A movie that celebrated its 30th anniversary a couple of weeks ago.

Carlos' good side was quite funny, especially since this episode is about fossils. And all the class were petrified.

I find it a bit strange that Tim doesn't know about fossils. I mean, in The Busasaurus, they went back into the time of the dinosaurs, but before that, they were at a fossil digging site.

I've looked through the audience and noticed a man sitting next to Keesha's mum and in front of Keesha's stepmum. Could that be Keesha's dad? Or maybe it's Tim's dad?

I personally think it would've been funnier if Dorothy Ann was sent to the time the dinosaurs existed, and turned into a dinosaur instead of a Dinogorgon.

But overall, this was a great way to start Season 6. Tim acting dreamy over Nicki was funny, and Keesha still has her sarcasm, like she did in Kicks Up a Storm. It shows kids how the Earth is changing all the time, and how fossils are made. And Carlos' good side pun was funny. And Arnold, Ralphie, Keesha and Wanda turning into Pokémon was quite interesting.

My rating: 9.5/10.
